Powers Principal Brian Gunn will provide a legislative update on the state of Indian affairs at the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians Fall Annual Convention this week.
The five-day event, hosted by the Colville Confederated Tribes, provides members with discussions and presentations in regard to policy, legislation and the future of Indian Country in the Northwest.
Session topics include tribal engagement with political campaigns, drug prevention and reducing substance abuse and crime. Representatives from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Environmental Protection Agency and National Congress of American Indians also will present at the conference.

Brian Gunn is a principal in the Powers Indian Tribal Governments group and a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation. He specializes in matters related to the federal budget and appropriations, natural resources, federal lands and federal land transfers, taxation, energy development, and Indian health.
