Powers is proud to announce attorney, Katherine Demedis, as its newest principal, effective January 1, 2025. Katie brings extensive expertise and demonstrates a commitment to excellence, continuing the firm’s tradition of outstanding legal service to our clients.
Katherine “Katie” Demedis joined Powers as a Summer Associate in 2011, returning as an Associate in 2012 and advancing to Counsel in 2020. Over her 12-year tenure at Powers, Katie has established herself as a respected leader in education law, with particular legal expertise in federal student aid, institutional and programmatic accreditation, institutional governance, state licensure, and Title IX. She is highly regarded for her work with Physician Assistant programs regarding the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) and has helped to establish Powers’ reputation as a leading law firm in this area.

Katie earned her J.D. with honors from George Washington University Law School, an Honors B.A. Degree with Distinction from the University of Delaware, and a Masters of Science in Teaching Secondary English from Pace University. Before law school, she taught middle school English in New York City for three years as a Teach for America corps member.
