Powers Principal Peter Thomas recently authored an opinion piece for The Hill discussing wheelchair access for seniors and individuals with disabilities under Medicare.
In the op-ed titled, “Medicare beneficiaries in rural areas are being systematically denied access to care,” Peter writes about how changes to wheelchair access programs under Medicare have negatively affected beneficiaries, specifically those receiving care in rural areas.
The article was written on behalf of the Independence Through Enhancement of Medicare and Medicaid Coalition Steering Committee. Peter is a coordinator for the coalition, which is a devoted to raising awareness and building support for policies that enhance access to assistive devices, technologies and related services for people with disabilities and chronic conditions.
