Members of the Powers Indian Tribal Governments practice, Paul Moorehead, Brian Gunn, and Natasha John are headed to Las Vegas, Nevada this week for the National Congress of American Indians Annual Convention.
Tuesday, October 29th, Paul will be on a panel discussion on Tribal Energy and Natural Resource Development Legal and Policy Projections for the 119th Congress and the 47th President of the United States, and Natasha will serve as the moderator for this panel. The panel will discuss recent legal, regulatory, and policy changes in energy and natural resources development; Congressional efforts, such as permitting reform; and administrative updates, such as natural resource development on Federal lands, to set the stage for a discussion on the future of tribal energy and resource development in the next Administration and Congress.
Wednesday, October 30th, Brian Gunn will be on a panel discussion on Tribal Law Enforcement Legislation in the 118th Congress. The panel will explore current issues with law enforcement in Indian country and discuss rationale and development of the Parity for Tribal Law Enforcement Act, the BADGES Act, and the PROTECT Act.
