Powers Senior Director of Government Affairs Jeremy Scott presented last week at the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacists Association’s (HOPA) 16th Annual conference—HOPA AHEAD 2020.
Jeremy presented with Sarah Hudson-DiSalle, PharmD, RPh, of the Ohio State University’s James Comprehensive Cancer Center and Mark Hamm, PharmD, MBA of Advocate Aurora Health, in a session titled “HOPA Advocacy Session: Pharmacists in Action.” The session covered HOPA’s health policy agenda, the current state of play and climate in Washington, DC, federal and state issues like drug shortages, oral chemotherapy parity, biosmiliars, expansion of repository laws, and the Pharmaceutical Services Reimbursement bills.
HOPA is a nonprofit professional organization launched in 2004 to help hematology and oncology pharmacy practitioners and their associates provide the best possible cancer care. HOPA’s membership includes not just oncology pharmacists, but also pharmacy interns, residents, technicians, researchers, and administrators specializing in hematology/oncology practice. HOPA represents more than 2,500 members working in hundreds of hospitals, clinics, physician offices, community pharmacies, home health practices, and other healthcare settings.
Jeremy Scott is a Senior Director of Government Affairs in the Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville Government Relations Practice, where he focuses on health care policy and representing the interests of nonprofit, advocacy and health organizations. Jeremy counsels clients on various policy and advocacy issues, including advancing authorization legislation, securing federal appropriations support for programmatic funding increases, and working with federal agencies on the implementation of legislation or proposed rules.
