Powers Counsel Christina Hughes will present this week in a webinar hosted by the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA).

The webinar, entitled “Arrangements with Physicians and Other Risks:  What You Don’t Know CAN Hurt You,” will cover compliance risks involved in inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) arrangements with physicians and vendors, as well as relationships with other facilities whose patients originate from or are transferred to the IRF. Christina will delve into specific risks under the Stark law, the anti-kickback statute, the beneficiary inducement prohibition, and other relevant laws.

Christina focuses her practice on healthcare compliance, particularly as related to fraud and abuse matters and Medicare coverage requirements. She counsels hospitals and hospital systems, home health providers, physicians, O&P suppliers, pharmacies, and diagnostic and other health services providers.

Christina provides advice on compliance with the Stark law, the anti-kickback statute, and the federal False Claims Act, including self-disclosures to CMS and the OIG and voluntary refunds; analyzes and creates Stark law compliant contracts; and provides counsel and legal assistance with Medicare claim denials and appeals, as well as other issues related to reimbursement.
