Powers Principal Brian Gunn spoke at the Federal Bar Association Indian Law Section’s 43rd Annual Indian Law Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona, last week.

Throughout the two-day conference, tribal leaders, attorneys, and advocates discussed protecting and securing the rights of tribal nations, and they evaluated effective practices for establishing a secure future for Indian Law and tribal sovereignty.

Brian was a panelist on the “Indian Health Service and the Opioid Epidemic” session on Thursday, April 5. He was joined by Aren Sparck, Government Affairs Officer for the Seattle Indian Health Board and Member-at-Large of the American Indian Health Commission, among others.

Brian Gunn is a principal in the Powers Indian Tribal Governments group and a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation. He works on a wide variety of issues for tribal clients in the U.S. Congress and federal agencies.

He specializes in matters related to the federal budget and appropriations, natural resources, federal lands and federal land transfers, taxation, energy development, and Indian health. Brian was the lead lobbyist for the Indian Trust Asset Reform Act, which President Barack Obama signed into law in 2016.
