Powers Associate Shuchi Parikh will moderate a webinar April 17 on emerging issues in health information technology on behalf of the South Asian Bar Association’s (SABA) Health Law Section.
A panel of attorneys and clinicians will discuss how technology can be used to improve health outcomes and the delivery of care, including topics such as the expansion of telemedicine, use of health IT for population health management, patient access to health records and interoperability.
Panelists include Purvi B. Maniar, Senior Counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright; Dr. Anand Shah, Chief Medical Officer & EVP at Pieces Technology; Alya Sulaiman, Corporate Counsel at Epic; and Maya Uppaluru, Associate at Crowell & Moring.
In addition to the webinar, SABA-DC will hold a lunch at the Powers office for attendees in the Washington, DC area. Shuchi serves as Co-Chair of the Health Law Sections for SABA North America and SABA-DC. She also serves on the D.C. Bar Health Law Section Steering Committee and the D.C. Bar Health Law Section’s New Practitioners Committee.
As a healthcare associate, Shuchi focuses on drug pricing and reimbursement matters, including the rapidly evolving 340B drug discount program. She has experience counseling a variety of 340B covered entities – including hospitals, federally qualified health centers, Ryan White clinics, and others – on internal and external 340B program audits, Medicaid billing and reimbursement policies, advocacy and coalition building and other 340B matters.
Shuchi also advises clients on fraud and abuse matters, including compliance with the federal Anti-Kickback Statute and the Stark Law. She helps clients prepare self-disclosures under the Stark Law and structure complex arrangements with physicians and other potential referral sources.
