Powers Associate Leela Baggett spoke to students at The George Washington University Law School on Wednesday about practicing health law in the private sector and navigating clients through today’s complex regulatory and legislative environment.
Leela participated in the Private Sector Health Law Career Panel sponsored by the Student Health Law Association, a student organization that introduces students to attorneys practicing in diverse areas of health law. Leela, a former President of the Student Health Law Association, discussed how she became an Associate at Powers and how law students can navigate the private sector hiring process. She also discussed her healthcare practice at Powers, as well as her previous internships at the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General and the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.
As a Powers Associate in the Healthcare and Tribal law practice groups, Leela counsels clients on a variety of legal issues, including regulatory, transactional, litigation, and legislative matters. Her portfolio encompasses Medicare enrollment, reimbursement, and appeals; provider and practitioner operations; 340B drug pricing program compliance; disability and rehabilitation advocacy; corporate formation; and gaming regulatory matters.
