Powers Principal William von Oehsen spoke at the Annual 340B Coalition Summer Conference held in Washington, DC, July 10 through 12. The conference celebrated 25 years of the 340B Program.
The three-day event, hosted by the 340B Coalition, featured multi-tracked educational sessions focused on all aspects of the federal 340B drug discount program. Among the topics covered at the conference were key legislative matters impacting the 340B community, contract pharmacy management and compliance, trends and developments in third-party billing and reimbursement, how to ensure 340B program compliance and more.
The conference included updates from the federal agencies charged with administering the 340B program, namely, the Health Resources and Services Administration and the Office of Pharmacy Affairs. Conference attendees also heard from CMS on the intersection of the 340B and Medicaid programs.
Bill served as the moderator for the session titled “How to Survive a HRSA Audit and Take Corrective Action,” which focused on how covered entities should prepare for a HRSA audit and take corrective action when a compliance issue is detected.
Bill has been involved with the 340B Program for more than 25 years. He played a key role in helping to enact the program in 1992 and to expand the law in 2010 under the Affordable Care Act. In 1997, he helped organize the 340B Coalition, which now represents a dozen national organizations whose members comprise virtually all of the safety net providers participating in the 340B program.
In addition to representing 340B Health and other clients on 340B matters, Bill provides guidance to pharmacies, pharmacy-related vendors and consultants, states, local governments, and other healthcare entities in their efforts to improve access to pharmaceutical care and to ensure compliance with drug pricing laws.
